This video was created as a statement on sexism and showing the problems we still are facing today involving sexism. When people talk about today’s society they are not thinking about sexism as an often occurrence and the point of this video is to show even comments and harassing behaviors are holding our society from moving on from these prehistoric behaviors. I think they chose to create a video instead of text to send a stronger message to their audience. Text is more casual while a video piece depicts a deeper sense of urgency. I also think that the nudity was included in this piece to show the double standards we are living with in our day to day lives. Such as the fact that it is perfectly acceptable for a man to go outside and take a jog without a shirt on but if a woman were to do this not only would people judge her but she would be breaking a law of indecent exposure. While watching this video, my main emotional reaction was anger. I was angry at myself and the fact that I found this video so ridiculous but that I accept the reverse situation of women being repressed on a day to day basis and do not think twice about it. I also found myself feeling sad that we still live in a world where things of that nature are found tolerable. I am saddened by the assumptions in today’s world that it is fine to degrade women with inappropriate comments and sexual harassment because there will be no consequences for your actions because that is just expected if you are a man. My logical reaction to this piece was the same comment that kept running through my head, “why does this man not just fight back? He is clearly much bigger and stronger than these women.” My logical reaction is correct, this man in the video was much bigger and stronger than the women degrading him and harassing him and he very well could have pushed them away or fought back but instead he just took it. I think the problem I have with this video is that when a woman is harassed by a man or even by several men they are typically much stronger than she is and she has no chance of fighting back, while the man in this video was clearly stronger and could have fought back. If this video was made in America people would have found it to be ridiculous. The main reason I think Americans would find it to be so ridiculous is because many Americans are ignorant and refuse to believe sexism is still a problem in our society. This ignorance is the problem, it is exactly what fuels the sexism and hatefulness.  The French made this video because their society does not seem to face the same types of ignorance and sexism that we do. I believe the French were trying to show just how ridiculous they find the occurrences of sexism due to ignorance.
